Client overview
A dynamic member of Oman's oil and gas industry, this organization operates as a wholly owned subsidiary of a major corporation. Established in 2014, the client operates upstream, which involves exploring new oil and gas reserves, appraising existing discoveries to determine their potential, and developing these resources for optimal production. While their current focus is Oman, they aim to explore, expand, and develop resources internationally.
Solution offered
The technical journey of this project addressed key data management and analytics challenges through a multi-layered solution. It integrated Microsoft Power BI for dynamic visualization with SAP S/4HANA for strong backend processing, enabling real-time analytics and actionable insights. By using both the Import Method and Direct Query, the system balanced efficient batch processing with immediate access to live operational data.
The architecture was designed for scalability and high performance, utilizing cloud technologies for storage and computing power. This ensured smooth information flow, enhanced accessibility, and efficient cross-functional collaboration. Powered by Enterprise HANA, the backend delivered OLAP capabilities to support complex analytical requirements.
SAP S/4HANA served as the core source system, integrating modules such as Project System, Material Management, Environment Health and Safety, Plant Maintenance, and Finance and Controlling. Combined with Power BI’s intuitive dashboards, the solution provided real-time insights tailored to energy-sector needs, strengthening decision-making and enabling a future-ready, data-driven operational ecosystem.
