The Dry Port located in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, started its operations in 1982. The total area of the Dry Port is 918,639 sq.m which included 6 warehouses, each of 6,480 sq.m size. The Dry port was capable of handling more than 200,000 standard containers per year, which could be augmented with an additional capacity to cope up with more containers. The Dry Port also included cold stores, stand-by generators, administrative offices, loading and handling equipment and required manpower for operations and maintenance. It enabled the importers in the central region to receive their cargo coming through Dammam at Riyadh-city by train.
